Felix Melendrez, 71, of Hereford passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2019 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be Monday at 2:00 PM at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Ruben Coronado and Roy Lopez officiating, burial to follow at Restlawn Cemetery of Hereford. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. Family and friend visitation will be Sunday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Viewing will begin Sunday from 2:00-8:00PM.

Felix was born April 10, 1947 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Nicolas B. and Manuela (Martinez) Melendrez. Felix was a United States Army Veteran. He has been a resident of Hereford since 1969. He worked for a few years at Tri-State as a grain elevator operator and later retiring from Hereford Grain after 31 years of employment. Felix lived on a farm and had a love for all farm animals, he enjoyed listening to music, having cookouts with his family, socializing and living life to the fullest. He loved his family time and especially enjoyed giving his nieces and nephews a hard time.

Those left to cherish his memory are a son Rudy Melendrez and his wife Susie of Amarillo; a brother Paul Melendrez and Gail, two sisters Amelia Davalos and Maria Coronado all of Hereford; three grandchildren Veronica, Antonio and William Melendrez all of Michigan.

Felix is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Francis Lopez and Betty Gutierrez and two brothers David Ortega and Tomas Melendrez, two brothers-in-law Ramiro Davalos and Mario Coronado and a very special friend Raymunda DeLaCruz.
