Felipa Escobedo Hernandez, age 79, a long-time resident of Hereford Texas passed away on Wednesday August 5, 2026, in Amarillo Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday August 11, 2026, at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Shane Wieck officiating. Following the ceremony Felipa will be laid to rest at St Anthony’s Cemetery. The arrangements and services are being handled by Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford Texas. Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Monday August 10, 2026, from 4:00PM - 8:00PM at the funeral home with a rosary beginning at 6:00 pm.

Felipa was born on October 30, 1946, in Brady Texas to Marcos and Trinidad (Lopez) Escobedo. She made Hereford her home for many years and worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken, a job she enjoyed especially her coworkers and customers who became friends. She married the love of her life Juan Hernandez her “viejito" on September 23,1967 and together they built a beautiful and loving life. They raised their 2 children plus helped with raising their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her greatest love was her family.

Felipa enjoyed traveling with her grandchildren, attending church on Sundays with family, watching her novelas, movie nights, a couple of her favorites were, A Walk to Remember & A Cinderella Story. She enjoyed cooking for her family while keeping up with loved ones on Facebook, doing word search puzzles and coloring with her grandchildren. Felipa treasured every family cookout, gatherings and moments spent with those she loved all while enjoying talking to a few of her siblings daily who always called to check in on her.

Felipa was cherished for her heart of gold, her generosity, and her deep and unconditional love she had for her family. Felipa's passion was her family, particularly her grandchildren great grandchildren and her great-great granddaughter, Brynlee, her ray of sunshine. Her devotion to her family was evident in everything she did. Felipa's beautiful smile caring heart have left a lasting impact and will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Samuel “Sammy” Hernandez (Lupe) Marisela Hernandez ,Christopher Salazar (Bryttnee) all of Hereford Texas Her grandchildren Marisela Hernandez Juan M Gonzales Michelle Gonzales Joseph a Hernandez (Marie) John A Hernandez (Cassandra) 16 great grandchildren including two sets of twins Christopher, Elexis, Nariah,(Zachariah and Jeremiah,) Denzel, and Devin, Jadyn, Aybri, and Cameron, Maverick, Rylan, Samantha, Carter (Juliana and Madison ) her memory will also be cherished by her great-great granddaughter Brynlee Ella Salazar who was always her bright little sunshine and her son-in-law Juan “Ricky” Gonzales.

Her siblings Marcos Escobedo of Dumas, Texas; Alejandro Escobedo and Frank Escobedo, both of Brady, Texas; Alvino Escobedo (Lupe), Olivia Valadez, Diana Aguilar (John) all of Hereford, Texas; Margarita Flores (Elias) of San Angelo, Texas; Mary Ann Vasquez (Jenaro) of Florida; and Adela Kemph of Oklahoma.

Felipa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Juan Hernandez; her daughter, Patricia Hernandez Gonzales, her grandson, Samuel Hernandez Jr.; her great-granddaughter, Serenity Bella Hernandez Ojeda, her brother, Liandro Escobedo, and her two sisters, Maria Alicia Carrillo and Chavelita Escobedo.
