Estela Garza Herrera, 78, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Sunday May 30, 2021, in Amarillo, Texas.  Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, June 4, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at San Jose Catholic Church with celebrant Nestor Lara. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements and Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A viewing will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021, from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M.

Estela was born on April 15, 1943, in Eden, Texas to Antonio and Maria (Garcia) Garza.  She married Jesus Herrera on August 25, 1962, at La Iglesia de San Jose in Hereford. Estela was a proud homemaker, taking care of her husband and children. Her children and grandchildren were extremely important to her, and time spent with them was cherished. Estela was always cooking, she loved to cook for her family especially enchiladas, tamales, fresh tortillas, and beans. She enjoyed playing the lottery, scratch offs, and playing BINGO. Estela was quite the gamer, having fun playing Nintendo games such as Mario Brothers, Duck Hunt, and Donkey Kong. She loved watching anything Sci-Fi, Jurassic Park, Telenovelas, and her favorite movie 2012. Estela was the best loving, sweet, spunky, outspoken momma.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Jesse Herrera and his wife Rachel of Dimmitt, Texas, Linda Benavidez and significant other Ernesto Rocha of Amarillo, Texas, Javier Herrera and his wife Louann of Hereford, Texas, Jaime Herrera of Hereford, Texas, and Irma Surls and husband Darrin of Farmington, Arkansas; twenty-one grandchildren and several great grandchildren; brothers, Carlos Garza of Clovis, New Mexico, Richard Garza of Brownwood, Texas, Frank Garza of Rowena, Texas, Santos Garza of Miles, Texas, and Cruz Garza of Justin, Texas; sisters, Celia Estrada of San Angelo, Texas, Jaine Lipsmeyer of Coneway, Arkansas, and Mary Helen of Madera, California, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Antonio and Maria Garza, husband Jesus Herrera, great grandchildren Hope and Heaven Villalovos, brothers Antonio Garza Jr., Pete Garza, and Jose Garza, and sisters Rosemary Garza and Lilly Martinez.
