Esperanza "La Yongui" Jimenez, 59, of Hereford, Texas passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 17, 2021, surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, September 20, 2021, at 2:00 P.M. at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Nestor Lara officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery.  Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home in Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be held Monday from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Esperanza was born on February 27, 1962, in Monterrey, Mexico to Jesus and Apolonia (Reyna) Rodriguez. She married Gumaro Jimenez on November 27, 1976.  Esperanza and her husband Gumaro moved to Hereford in 1987. She worked most of her life as a cook.  She was an excellent cook making painstakingly difficult dishes look great and taste even better. Esperanza enjoyed cooking so much that she would send recipes to her kids everyday even though they didn't like to cook. Esperanza also liked to knit, sing, and watch telenovelas. Esperanza was a strong, joyful, and a giving woman always prioritizing her families' needs. She was a woman with tremendous work ethic, impeccable morals, and integrity, holding her children to the same standard and they knew… her house her rules. She was swift to keep them in line with her personal flare of word choice and supported them in all ways to ensure success.

Those left to cherish her memories are her mom Apolinia Rodriguez of Zacatecas, MX; husband Gumaro of Hereford, TX; children Gloria Lewis and her husband Chad of Amarillo,TX, Betzaira Childers and her husband Chad of Cincinnati, OH, Cuca Alonzo and her husband Isaac of Hereford, TX, Enrique Jimenez and his wife Crystal of Kalamazoo, MI; grandchildren, Jordan, Sierra, Jacob, Wyatt, Olivia, O'shyn, Bailey, River, Kaida, Kozmo, Laszlo, Winchester, Scout, and Chopper; several brothers and sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father Jesus, a brother Dago, and two baby brothers.
