Esperanza "Hope" Pesina, 67, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, in Hereford, Texas surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, January 21, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Nick Gerber as celebrant. Burial of cremains will take place at a later date. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 3:00-8:00 P.M. with rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Family request that if attending visitation, rosary, or mass, that you please wear a mask.

Hope was born in Ballinger, Texas on December 1, 1954, to Leopoldo and Beatrice (Bermea) Perales. She was a lifelong resident of Hereford, Texas, attending Hereford Schools and graduating from Hereford High School in 1973.  She married Ray Pesina, on July 1, 1973. Hope worked at Northwest Elementary School while attending West Texas State University where she graduated from with her Associates Degree. Hope worked for the Department of Human Services in Hereford as a caseworker helping people for seventeen years. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church.

Hope enjoyed playing Bingo with her sister Maggie and they also ran the Bingo for San Jose for many years. She loved to dance and listen to music, her favorites being music from the 70's and Tejano music.  Many of Hope's family members were musicians, and some were the very first Tejano musicians in the area. She also loved to fish, go to the Casinos, cooking, shopping for jewelry on QVC, and photography; Hope attended many photography classes. She was a wonderful wife and amazing mother who will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memories are husband Ray Pesina of Hereford, Texas; daughter Leah Pesina and her husband Minjunn Kang of Hereford, Texas; sisters, Maggie Castillo, Lisa Mendoza and her husband Joe Leatherwood, and Esmeralda Cisneros all of Amarillo, Texas, and Delfine Fox and her husband Robert Russell of Nashville, Tennessee, brothers, Michael Perales of Amarillo, Texas and Leopoldo Perales of Dallas, Texas; father-in-law and mother-in-law Daniel and Delfina Pesina of Hereford, Texas; her cats, Hanna and Sixx; her dog Bubba; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Hope is preceded in death by her parents, Leopoldo and Beatrice Perales and a sister, Lupe Perez.
