Esperanza Lopez, 79, a longtime Hereford resident, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 2:00PM at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Manny Perez officiating.  Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Public viewing will be on Tuesday, November 7, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Esperanza was born on September 7, 1944, in La Ferdia, Texas, to Jose and Maria de Jesus (Corrales) Lucio. She has been a resident of Hereford since she was 16 years old. Later in Esperanza's life she owned and operated "Pure Elegance" beauty salon for many years. She loved playing Bingo, card games with her family, watching her favorite T.V. show "Gunsmoke", and gardening her vegetables and peach and apple trees. Esperanza was always ready to tell a funny joke and enjoyed the laughter it would bring. Her straight forwardness, quick wit and being ornery will be missed by all who loved her dearly.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Theresa Lopez Brice, Diana Mendoza and her husband John all of Amarillo, Texas, Hesiquel Lopez and his wife Lori of Hereford, Texas, and Angelica Attaguile and her husband Raymond of El Paso, Texas; 24 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; and her sister, Oralia Martinez of Harlingen, Texas.

Esperanza is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lazaro Lopez, 2 sons, Lazaro Lopez, Jr., and Matias Lopez; 5 brothers, Hilario, Jose Angel, Narciso, Leonardo and Pedro Lucio; 4 sisters, Juana Aleman, Olivia Lucio, Candelaria Hernandez, and Cruz Garza.
