Esperanza "Espie" Casarez, 71, long time resident of Hereford, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 in Hereford, Texas surrounded by her family.  Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 11: 00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Ramon Molina officiating, burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral home of Hereford, TX. Viewing will be Friday, October 23, 2020 from 10:00 AM -8:00 PM with Rosary to begin at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Everyone who is attending mass must wear a mask, Your health and safety matter to us.

Esperanza was born on December 15, 1948 in Edcouch, Texas to Jose Enrique and Rita (Mariscal) Rodriguez. She married Ciro Casarez on April 13, 1972 and has been a resident of Hereford since 1971.  Esperanza worked at the St. Anthony's and West Central Cafeteria's for approximately 20 years; she then helped her husband in the agriculture field. She also helped to start the family business, Hereford Concrete, in November of 2000. Esperanza was a faithful member of San Jose Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing in her younger days, crafting, shopping but most of all enjoyed the Casino. She loved to cook for her family and in large quantities. Esperanza's grandchildren were her life, and she would drop everything for them. She loved her family and they adored her; she will be dearly missed.

Those left to cherish her memories are husband Ciro, daughter Geneva Casarez and husband Javier Lopez, sons: Ciro Casarez III and his wife Jackie, and Jose Enrique "Quique" Casarez and his wife Jessica Barrientos, all of Hereford, TX; mother Rita Rodriguez of Moorpark, CA; siblings: Margarita Barrera and her husband Alberto of Moorpark, CA, Piedad Rodriguez of Camarillo, CA, Juan Rodriguez of Hereford, TX, Gloria Rodriguez of Camarillo, CA, Joe Rodriguez and his wife Shelly of Moorpark, CA, Manuel Rodriguez of Moorpark, CA, and Rita Rodriguez of Hereford, TX; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.

Esperanza has joined her father and grandson Jay Casarez.
