Ernesto "Ernie" Griego Jr., 69, a lifelong resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Grant Spinhirne officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. A viewing will be on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, with a Rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M.

Ernie was born in Hereford on October 15, 1953, to Ernesto Griego, Sr., and Dolores (Ortiz) Griego. Ernie had a huge heart, and he was constantly helping others and cheerfully giving. He enjoyed old western black and white movies, John Wayne, and wearing western clothing and boots. Ernie referred to exercising as "practice, and his favorite quote was, "my life my business." Ernie was a character and enjoyed being a clown and cracking jokes. Ernie loved his mom and his son very much.

Those left to cherish his memories are his mom, Dolores Griego of Hereford, Texas; son, Ernesto Griego III and his wife Monica of Farmers Branch, Texas; two grandsons, Gabriel Griego, and Jason Griego; siblings, Oralia Griego of Ft. Worth, Texas, Irene Guerra of Hereford, Texas, Max Griego and his wife Janie of Hereford, Texas, Beatrice Urias and her husband Eloy of Amarillo, Texas, Tony Griego of Hereford, Texas, Betty Gonzalez and her husband Tommy of Amarillo, Texas, Annabell Villegas and her husband Ralph of Amarillo, Texas, Rosemary Villarreal and her husband Lee of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Jimmy Griego and his wife Nellie of Carter, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Ernesto Griego, Sr., and siblings, Rose Carlton, Lola Pacheco, Joe Griego, Bobby Griego, Martha Cortez, Justo Griego, Clara Guerrero, Rita Flores, and Julian Griego.
