Our beloved father, Emilio N. Romero, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on May 11, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on August 8, 1935, in San Juan Del Rio, Durango, Mexico to the late Pedro Quiñonez and Maria Alvarado Quiñonez. After the death of his mother, Emilio was adopted by the late Prudencio Romero and Elisa Nuñez Romero in Mexico City, Mexico. Emilio married the late Elvira Gutierrez in Nueva Rosita Coahuila. Emilio and his family moved in 1970 to Hereford, Texas where they lived from 1970 to 2015. Emilio and Elvira later moved to Liberty Hills, Texas from 2015-2020 and Emilio lived his last years in San Antonio, Texas. Emilio was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. His pride and joy were his 7 children (Emilio, Elsa, Marco, Elvira Linda, Harvey, Jesse, and Anna).

Emilio worked at Asarco as an Electrician in Mexico. When he moved to the United States, he continued his profession as an Electrician working for Owens Electric, Brandon & Clark Electric, Hereford Independent School District, and started his own company, Romero's Electric. Emilio was a proud Master Electrician in the State of Texas. He was also a member of the Electrical Union #602 in Amarillo and Electrical Local Union #60 in San Antonio, Texas supervising the building of prisons in the Texas panhandle.

Those left to cherish his memories include his children Emilio J. Romero and his wife Mona Romero of Amarillo, TX; Elsa R. Marquez of Hereford, TX; Marco Romero of Monterrey, MX; Elvira Linda R. Espinoza and husband Jesus Espinoza of San Antonio, TX; Harvey Romero and wife Sande Romero of Liberty Hills, TX; Jesse Romero and wife Julissa Romero of Dallas, TX; Anna R. Cabezuela and husband David Cabezuela of San Antonio, TX, along with 21 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. Also, his surviving siblings: sister Socorro Romero from Mexico City, sister Susana Romero, from Mexico City. and sister Francsica Quiñonez from San Diego, California.

Emilio was preceded in death by his beloved wife Elvira G. Romero, granddaughter, J ennifer Romero, his parents, and several siblings.

Emilio was a testimony to his family to seek God, enjoy life, value family, and enjoy outdoor sports. He was instrumental in starting the Men's Soccer Team, "Twisters" in Hereford, Texas. He was a devoted Christian and enjoyed singing "coritos" during church service. Emilio also loved singing to Mexican Ranchera Music and dancing with his beloved wife. He enjoyed family carne asadas and Sunday family breakfast of barbacoa and menudo. Emilio enjoyed playing soccer and watching his favorite soccer team, Atlas on TV. Emilio loved caring for farm animals and listening to the birds sing. Emilio will always be remembered for his love of Christ, music, sports, nature, and family values.

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Calvary Family Church in Hereford, Texas, with Pastor Ruben Coronado officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery in Hereford under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. A viewing will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:00 P.M.
