Emilio "Lico" Cantú, 70, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in Castro County. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024, at 10:00 A.M. at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Ramon Molina officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. A Family and Friend visitation will be on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. with the Rosary beginning at 6:00 P.M.

Emilio was born on November 24, 1953, in Castaños, Coahuila, Mexico to Emilio Sr. and Leonila (Velasquez) Cantú.  He graduated from Hereford High School in 1971. Emilio married Adela (Villegas) Cantú on September 25, 1976, at San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford. He worked for Cattle Town these last 27 years. Emilio was a hardworking man who enjoyed providing for his family and spending time with them; he also enjoyed scratch off lotto tickets and would always get one for him and one for Adela. Family and working were his focus and joy, and he loved to talk to everyone about his grandkids.

Those left to cherish his memories are wife Adela Cantú of Hereford, Texas; son Jonathan Cantú and wife Roni of Hereford, Texas; daughter Jennifer Cantú of Hereford; grandchildren Isaac Cantú and Isaiah Cantú both of Hereford, Texas; bonus daughter Ana Zepeda and husband Robert of Hereford, Texas; bonus grandchildren, Stacy Gonzales and husband Joseph of Hereford, Texas and Bailee Mungia and husband Matthew of Amarillo, Texas, Hope Zepeda, Faith Zepeda, Evion Casias, Andrew Gonzales, Zackary Gonzales all of Hereford, Texas and Jordan Mungia and Gabriella Mungia of Amarillo, Texas; siblings, Hortencia Reyes and husband Benjamin of San Angelo, Texas, Mary Espinoza and husband Johnny of San Antonio, Texas, Juan Cantú and wife Ofelia of Ft. Worth, Texas, Margarita Tello and husband Alfredo, Yolanda Ibarra and husband Rolando, Alicia Martinez and husband Mario all of San Antonio, Texas, Lauro Cantú of Hereford, Texas, and Lorenzo Cantú of San Angelo, Texas.

Emilio is preceded in death by his parents, Emilio Sr. and Leonila Cantú and brother Fidencio Cantú.
