Elvie Campbell, 95, a longtime resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, in Hereford, Texas. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Central Church of Christ with Mr. Denny Sneed officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery.  Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. Viewing will be on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, from 3:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.

Elvie was born on August 24, 1926, in Olustee, OK., to Floyd and Mary (Hestand) VanDoern. Elvie has been a longtime resident of the Panhandle most of her adult life. She graduated from Olton High School. Elvie took much pride in raising her 7 wonderful children, caring for her husband, and attending church. She was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Elvie enjoyed embroidering, cooking, especially her famous cinnamon rolls, fudge, and pecan pies, gardening her vegetables, hoeing everyone's weeds, and making jam perserves from her peach, cherry, and plum trees. Elvie was a simple lady; family and family gatherings were important to her.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Lynda Hill, Glenda Tarno, Jerry Wayne Campbell, Richard Campbell, and Alice Fornash all of Hereford, Texas, and Roger Campbell of Amarillo, Texas; 17 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren; her siblings Minnie Thurman of Amarillo, Texas, and Mary Tate of Iowa, and a first cousin Dorothy Ott of Hereford, Texas.

Elvie is preceded in death by her parents, a son Tommy Campbell, a granddaughter Cheryl Campbell and three sisters, Velvie Berry, Joy Presley and Faye Wesley.

In leu of flowers memorials can be made to the Central Church of Christ, 148 Sunset Drive, Hereford, TX 79045.
