Eloy Hernandez went to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 70 on Sunday, December 8, 2024, in Amarillo, Texas. A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Ruben Coronado officiating, burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. A family and friend visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Eloy was born in Zacatecas, Mexico to his loving parents, Norberto and Alicia (Martinez) Hernandez on March 20, 1954. Eloy was a long-time resident of Hereford. Eloy was raised in Mexico where he met the love of his life Paula Piedra at a dance. Paula immediately captured Eloy's heart, and they got married in February of 1972 in Zacatecas, Mexico. Together they moved to Hereford and raised their beautiful family, making Hereford home.  Eloy was employed for 20 years at Hereford Grain, then worked at Forerunner and Sweet Brand for several years until retirement. Eloy had a tremendous work ethic, which he instilled in his children and grandchildren.

Eloy loved being a grandfather and was the BEST grandpa and father to his family. You could always find Eloy outside working on his many projects, with his very long honey-do list, and tending to his farm animals along with his best fur buddy Jet.  Eloy was a man of very few words but had a big heart and a great sense of humor. He enjoyed watching old western movies, listening to his favorite Randy Travis and drinking a cup of coffee every morning to start his day.

Those left to carry on his legacy is his wife of 52 beautiful years of marriage, Paula Hernandez of Hereford, Texas; his caring children, Flor Salas and husband Cesar of Austin, Texas, Ruth Hernandez of Austin, Texas, Juan Hernandez and wife Joni of Hereford, Texas, Lorena Hernandez and Jacob Armendariz of Austin, Texas; his grandchildren, Ruby Johnson, Raegan Hernandez and Zack Cabezuela, Mariah Lopez, Inez Cristian Lopez, Ethan Lopez, Jalen Salas, Maegan Hernandez; his great grandchildren, Kiya Hernandez, Emilia Lopez, Addyson Cabezuela; his sibling's, Elba Hernandez, Arturo Hernandez and wife Eréndira of San Bernardino, California, Octavio Hernandez and wife Virginia of Ensenada, Mexico, Otoniel Hernandez and wife Maria Auxilio of San Bernardino, California, Gladys Hernandez and husband Edgar Avila of Dallas, Texas, Marisol Hernandez and Husband Julian Estrada of Oregon, Jorge Cordova and wife Rosario of Hereford, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.

Those preceding him in passing are his parents, Norberto and Alicia Hernandez; his sister Maria del Socorro Hernandez.

Eloy Hernández partió a estar con su Señor y Salvador a la edad de 70 años el domingo 8 de diciembre de 2024 en Amarillo, Texas. El viernes 13 de diciembre de 2024, a las 11:00 a.m., se llevará a cabo un servicio funerario de Celebración de la Vida en la capilla de la funeraria Mendez and Mullins Family con el pastor Rubén Coronado oficiando, y el entierro seguirá en el cementerio West Park. Le gustaba ver viejas películas del oeste, escuchar a su Randy Travis favorito y tomar una taza de café todas las mañanas para comenzar el día.
