Elida R. Balderaz, 89, of Hereford passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in Sterling City, Texas.

Elida was born September 3, 1928 in Sterling City, Texas to Dolores and Francisca (Gaitan) Rodriguez. Elida has been a resident of Hereford, Texas since the 1970's. She married Jesus Balderaz in 1944. Elida was a member of the Good News Church, she enjoyed singing, painting, taking care of her yard, helping others and ministering to everyone she encountered, but above all this she loved to bake. She was a professional baker and everyone in Hereford knew her as "the cake lady." The school children always made that route to "the cake ladies" house to get a little baggie full of left over cake.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Olivia Rodriguez of Amarillo, Adolph Balderaz, Sr. of Hereford, Roy Balderaz and wife Janie of San Angelo, Benny Balderaz of San Angelo and Elvira Alvarado and husband David of Hereford; two brothers, Dolores Rodriguez, Jr. of Lawton, OK., Braulio Rodriguez of San Angelo; two sisters, Rose Hope of Duarte, CA., and Francisca Ybarra of Abilene, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus Balderaz and three grandsons, Rene and Steven Rodriguez and Levi Martinez.

The family suggest memorials be donated to the Sterling County Nursing Home, 309 Fifth Street, Sterling City, Texas 76951
