Edward John Yavornik II

October 4, 1947 – November 23, 2025

Edward John Yavornik II was born to the late Edward and Annette Yavornik with much celebration and happiness on October 4, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a high achiever earning the Eagle Scout Award and played varsity football and basketball during high school, while maintaining a high gpa. He graduated from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri with a BA in Business and a minor in Nutrition and Management.

Upon graduation from Drury, he accepted a position with John Q. Hammons Hotels. He worked very hard and enjoyed learning all the aspects of Hotel Management, which led to him becoming a GM of several hotels across the United States including, Oregan, California, Washington, Montana, Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Wyoming. In 1987, he became the manager of the Hereford Country Club where he was employed until retirement in 2016. He loved and lived for the Hotel and Country Club business. While in the Holiday Inn in Ellensburg, he met the love of his life, Barbara. She was the best desk clerk at the hotel, but relinquished her position because of hotel policy about, "dating the help." Ed and Barbara were married January 11, 1980.

Ed was known as Mr. Ed and had an eye for detail and perfection in his profession. He was the ultimate wedding planner and event planner. In Hereford, Ed loved working with the late Terry Sparks, and they were the greatest team. Ed was a great cook and mixologist. He was known for his flaming Bananas Foster and Steak Diane tableside. He was also the ultimate grill master cooking up steaks, ribs, chicken, and the like. His margaritas were legendary.

While in Wyoming, he accepted an award from Dick Cheney for his work with the disabled. Ed was a member of the Hotel Restaurant organization in Washington, in which he served as a member and as president. He was also a member of the Texas Country Club Managers Association. Ed was such a good person and had a heart of gold. He was a life long Catholic and served as an altar boy many years ago in St. Louis.

He went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 23, 2025, in Amarillo, Texas.

Those left to cherish his memories and hold him close is his wife Barbara, brother, two brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Preceded him in death were his beloved parents, sister, his mother and father-in-law, and brother-in-law.

"Well done good and faithful servant."

A Memorial Mass honoring Ed will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 10:00 A.M. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hereford. The Rosary will be recited on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.  Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford.
