Edward Lewis Vaught, 84, a longtime resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Sunday, March 5, 2023, in Lubbock, Texas. Graveside services will be on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM at West Park Cemetery with great nephew, Brayden Daniel officiating. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be on Friday, March 10, 2023, from 10:00 AM-5:00 PM at the funeral home.

Edward was born on September 6, 1938, in Amarillo, Texas, to Milton Perry and Florence (Leary) Vaught. He has been a resident of Hereford, Texas, for 74 years. He graduated from Hereford High School and later was drafted into the United States Army in 1962-1967. Edward later retired from Deaf Smith Electric Coop after many years of employment. In Edward's younger years he enjoyed bowling and was very active in Boy Scouts. His hobbies included listening to music, leatherwork, skilled handcrafts, and camping and fishing. Edward took great pride in caring for his mother up until her death, 1 month from being 100 years old. He loved his family and enjoyed harassing his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by many.

Those left to cherish his memories are his sister, Sandra Thomas and her husband Lloyd of Hereford, Texas, nieces and nephews, Ellen Dryden and her husband Mike of Sherman, Texas, Jeannine Shackelford and her husband Mark of Cotton Center, Texas, Cynthia Daniel of Canyon, Texas, Justin Thomas of Canyon, Texas, Perrian Peebles and her husband Stacy of Hendrix, OK., and Chad Thomas and his wife April of Hereford, Texas; his sister-in-law, Bernadette Vaught of Sherman, Texas, and numerous great nieces and nephews and a special caregiver, Jane Eby of Dimmitt, Texas.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Perry Ottis Vaught.
