Edward Harmon DeLozier, 81, of Hereford, Texas passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas. Graveside Services will be Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery of Hereford, Texas at 11:00 AM with Pastor Wayne Kniffen and Pastor Carl DeLozier officiating. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date and time. Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

Edward Harmon DeLozier was born December 6, 1938 to Elbert and Geneva DeLozier in Summerfield, Texas. He grew up in Dimmitt on the family farm and graduated from Dimmitt high school in 1957. He then entered the army and completed a tour in Germany as a helicopter mechanic. Upon returning home, he worked in various agriculture jobs and soon met Carlynn Williams who became the love of his life. They were married August 3, 1962. The couple spent one year in Estancia, New Mexico before settling in Hereford in 1964. He worked with several businesses in Hereford. Ed's Ditching Service, Sperry New Holland as the shop manager and eventually spent several years with Champion International (Stone Container and Inland Container) which produced cardboard boxes.

The DeLoziers were involved in several community activities including: First Christian Church which became Trinity Fellowship. He was a volunteer fireman for approximately 20 years and a member of the Hereford Lions Club. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Hereford athletics serving as president of the Whiteface Booster Club and was awarded "Fan of the Year." His name was Ed but to many he was simply "Granddaddy." Ed was proud of his community and his family until the day he died. He enjoyed the outdoors, sporting event, gardening, and practiced hospitality in his home. Many people remember Christmas Eve gatherings on Stadium Drive.

Ed is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carlynn, two sons Don DeLozier and his wife Michelle of Hereford, Carl DeLozier and his wife Karen of Bryan, Texas. Eight grandchildren: Tim and Jessica Bell, Dodge DeLozier and Dayton DeLozier all of Hereford, Texas; Joshua DeLozier, Matthew DeLozier, Daniel DeLozier, and Joseph DeLozier all of Bryan, Texas, three great grandchildren and two sisters Mary Smith of Amarillo and Patricia Crooks of Lufkin, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elbert and Geneva DeLozier, two brothers- in- law Gene Smith and Bobby Crooks.
