Doyle Craig Bainum, age 71, of Hereford, Texas passed away September 6, 2021 in his home.

Funeral services will be held at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel at 105 Greenwood St in Hereford on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 4:00 P.M. with Rev James Williams of Northside Baptist officiating. Arrangements are by Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home in Hereford and will be followed by honorary ceremony at the Veterans of Foreign Wars memorial wall.

Craig was born in Hereford, TX to Delbert and Geraldine (Jerry) Kendall Bainum on November 15, 1949. He attended Hereford High School. His service in the US Army began September 11, 1968. Sgt. Bainum's service in the 23rd Infantry Division "Americal" included a tour in Vietnam as a Field Artilleryman from 1970 to 1971. He served as the Disaster Chairman for the Red Cross and was a Life Member of the VFW Post #4818 in Hereford. In 2006 Craig proudly served as Commander of his cherished Post. Craig spent over 25 years in the cattle industry with the Bar G Feed yard in Summerfield, TX.

Craig enjoyed lifelong friendships with many. He provided honest and heartfelt guidance, but only when asked. The life lessons he taught were a reflection of his own experiences and he never shied away from accountability.  Craig was a natural storyteller and as a result never walked into a room without finding or making a friend.  He was a spirited poker player and looked forward to friendly wagers. He provided commentary for family game nights. He was up before the sun most days and was always a willing participant in a good time. Craig's remarkable ability to see the best in everyone brought out the best in people. Craig was the person you wanted at your table. He was the first person to call with good news, or bad. His hearty laughter will be remembered. He would give anyone without question a helping hand if they needed it.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents Delbert Bainum and Geraldine (Jerry) Kendall Bainum; his adoring Vera Berryman; his sister Gwendell George; and grandparents Charles and Mary Bainum; grandparents Joe and Velma Kendall.

Craig is survived by Son, Chance Bainum and his Wife Michelle of Farmersville, TX and their children Micaela and Maycee; Daughter Cami Melugin and husband Bryan of Charlotte, NC and their children Kendall Craig, Brianna, and Viola. He is also survived by the mother of his children Carol S. Bainum of Hereford; His sister Connie Bainum Blakes and her husband Lonnie of Abernathy, TX and their children Michelle, Craig and Kianna. He also leaves behind cousins and countless friends.

Honorary pallbearers are Donnie Rhyne, Joe Soliz, Ronni Lance, Larry Noland, Johnny Trotter, Mark Berryman, Samuel Berryman, and Gary Walsmith.
