Dorothy Brownlow, 91, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 13, 2026, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hereford, at 11:00 AM with Father Grant Spinhirne as celebrant. The Rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 6:00 PM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Dorothy was born on February 18, 1935, to F.B. (Bud) Pepper and Grace (Smith) Pepper in Amarillo, Texas. She had a close relationship with her father, who affectionately referred to her as "Dot". She started her college studies at the University of Texas in 1953 and completed her Bachelor of Education degree from West Texas State University. Dorothy dedicated 50 years to teaching at Tierra Blanca Elementary, Stanton, and St. Anthony's School. She has resided in Hereford since 1964 and married Emory Brownlow in 1967. Dorothy was a devoted and active member of St. Anthony's Church and School for many years.

Dorothy enjoyed playing the piano, drawing, writing puns for her family, and reading books. She cared deeply about teaching, volunteering and had a fondness for all animals, especially cats and birds. Dorothy loved the library and enjoyed creating art. With Pepper as her maiden name and being witty as she was, she amused her students by putting on a lab coat and proclaimed to be Dr. Pepper the scientist as she taught lessons. Dorothy enjoyed gardening and caring for her yard. She cherished time with her family and babysitting her grandchildren. She communicated effectively without raising her voice, as her eyes conveyed her intentions clearly.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Eric Fowler and his wife Janette of Hereford, Texas, Mark Fowler and his wife Mary of Sandia Park, New Mexico, Susan Stormer and her husband Fred of Amarillo, Texas, and Becky McWilliams of Hereford, Texas; ten grandchildren, Martin Carnahan, Jason Carnahan, Kristin Messer, Daniel Carnahan, Andrew Carnahan, Hayley Fowler, Christian Fowler, Sam Stormer, Ben Stormer, and Sally McWilliams; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; niece Kristi Wilson of Oregon; nephew Michael Wilson of Michigan, and adopted son Charles Joslin of Lubbock, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents F.B. (Bud) and Grace, husband Emory Brownlow and sister Sally Bartlett.
