Donna Diane Smith, 68, passed away on Monday, April 12, 2021, in Hereford, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the First Presbyterian Church of Hereford, Texas at 10:30 A.M.  with Pastor Stuart Smith officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

Diane was born on October 9, 1952 in Amarillo, Texas to John Edgar Smith and Donna Nell (Womble) Smith. She spent much of her childhood on the family farm in Easter with her parents and younger sister Debbie. She reaped the benefits of her parents' love of airplanes which led them to managing the Hereford airport for many years. Diane graduated from Hereford High School in 1971 and attended Texas Tech University where she pledged Alpha Chi Omega sorority and received a BBA in 1974. She maintained her devotion to Tech for the remainder of her life. Guns up!

Diane moved to Galveston in 1975 where she began a long career in the field of medical administration, employed by the UT Galveston Medical System until she moved to the west coast in 1988. Based in Ventura California, Diane became a regional manager of California Home Health.

Diane moved back to Hereford in 1999 and went to work for Hereford Health Clinic as clinic business manager from November 1999 until 2006. During this time, she and her parents moved from the airport into Hereford proper.  This is where they became known for their Yard-of-the-Month landscaping skills. It was during this time that Diane joined as a member of the Hereford Kiwanis Club. She served as president of the organization for several years and was recognized as a dedicated community leader. Her favorite service project was the annual end-of-school picnic in Dameron Park, where she and her father cooked hot dogs for over 300 Pre-K and kindergarten kids and their teachers. Diane was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Hereford where she participated in the ladies Bible study and was known for her love of cooking new dishes from her extensive cookbook collection for church events.

Diane is preceded in death by her parents, John and Donna Smith and her younger sister Debbie (Smith) Severe.

She is survived by her nephew John Severe and his wife Rachel Severe of Silverthorne, Colorado and her niece Sarah Severe and her fianc é Benjamin Sherwood of Lubbock, Texas, along with aunts and uncles.
