Dolores O. Griego, 102, a longtime resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, at 10:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant David Contreras officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, from 3:00-8:00 PM with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Dolores was born on June 24, 1920, in Garita, New Mexico, to Apolonio and Beatrice Ortiz. Dolores always took much pride in being able to care for all 12 of her children and her husband. She was a member of San Jose Catholic Church and was very dedicated in praying the rosary every morning. She enjoyed and was an exceptional cook, her children say her homemade tortillas and breads were some of their favorites. Dolores was a very easy-going, big-hearted individual who got up every morning, put on her makeup and always wanted manicures and pedicures. She was very much loved by her children, whom they say, "our mamasita was the best in the world", and her grandchildren loved their "nanita", dearly. Dolores had been asked by her daughter why she thought her life had been extended to live 102 years of age, her reply was, "not sure why I'm still here, only that God still needs me here". Dolores' presence and beautiful smile will be tremendously missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Irene Guerra of Hereford, Texas, Max Griego and his wife Janie of Hereford, Texas, Beatrice Urias and her husband Eloy of Amarillo, Texas, Tony Griego of Hereford, Texas, Betty Gonzalez and her husband Tom of Amarillo, Texas, Annabell Villegas and her husband Ralph of Amarillo, Texas, Rosemary Villarreal and her husband Ruben of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Jimmy Griego and his wife Natalie of Carter, Oklahoma; a step-daughter, Oralia Griego of Ft. Worth, Texas; her sister, Aggie Gonzales of Las Vegas, New Mexico, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ernesto Griego, Sr., her children, Clara Guerrero, Rita Flores, Julian Griego and Ernest Griego, Jr., her stepchildren, Rose Carlton, Lola Pacheco, Joe Griego, Martha Cortez, Bobby Griego and Justo Griego, several grandchildren, 2 sisters and a brother.
