Dolores Christie, 90, of Granbury, Texas, formerly of Hereford, Texas, passed away on August 8, 2022, in Hereford. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 12, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at West Park Cemetery in Hereford, Texas, with Pastor Ellis Parson officiating. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A viewing will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:30 P.M at the funeral home.

Dolores was born on July 5, 1932, to William and Virgie Thomas. She met her husband of 71 years, Kenneth Christie at a high school rival basketball game. Kenneth was from New Deal and Dolores from Abernathy. In high school, she enjoyed playing basketball, dancing, and twirling.

Dolores was a supportive agricultural and farming wife and a dedicated and active member of Summerfield Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and met Pastor Ellis Parson and his family. She collected and loved antique hair receivers and loved magnolia's, birds, and bird houses. She also loved shopping and could shop until she dropped. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she was known for her decorations and her award-winning beautiful yard. She was a skilled and lovely painter and a sewer; she sewed many barbie and doll clothes for her daughter and granddaughters.

Behind Dolores's on-point pin curls, elegance, and grace, she always looked forward to pheasant season and hosting friends from all over the world. She would always earn bragging rights to every hunting and fishing trip she was invited to.

Kenneth and Dolores relocated to Granbury, Texas, in 2002; they spent their final years in the beautiful home they built on the banks of Lake Granbury.

Dolores is survived by her daughter, Valerie Fellhauer and her husband Tom of Hereford; daughter-in-law, Kathy Christie of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren, Shayne Fellhauer, Kelly Christie and his wife Elda, Colby Christie, Kena Fuston, Chad Christie, and Kealie Kohlmeyer and her husband Geoffrey; seven great-grandchildren, Kimber Kohlmeyer, Kendal Kohlmeyer, Madison Palmer and husband Anthony, Brayden Christie, Miah Kroker, Elyse Christie, and Izabel Christie; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Bradley Palmer.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Christie, on January 19, 2022; son, Jimmy Christie, in 2012; two sisters, Billie Metcalf and Barbara Hardin; two half-brothers, and one-half sister.
