Derrill Carroll, 84, a lifelong resident of Hereford, went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 10, 2025.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Avenue Baptist Church in Hereford, with Pastor Billy Joe Wall officiating. Burial will follow at West Park Cemetery under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.

Derrill was born on September 15, 1940, in Hereford, Texas, to W E and Velma (Woods) Carroll. He was a 1959 Hereford High School graduate. Derrill married his "Sweetie," Natha Bryan, on March 26, 1959, in Hereford. He owned and operated A1 Pest Control for fifty-plus years. During those years, he attended the police academy and graduated as the valedictorian of his class. Derrill worked as a sheriff deputy for the Deaf Smith County Sheriff's Office for twenty-plus years until his retirement.

Derrill enjoyed target shooting and prairie dog shooting with his sons. He also enjoyed flying model airplanes and riding motorcycles, sharing these hobbies and many more with his children.  He liked watching old western movies on the Grit channel while sipping coffee. Derrill had a great sense of humor, and you never knew if he might be serious or not.

He is preceded in death by his parents, W E and Velma Carroll; wife, Natha Carroll, and one brother, Kenneth Carroll.

Those left to cherish his memories are his three children, Johnny Carroll and wife Cindy of Hereford, Texas, Tim Carroll and wife Teresa of Tyler, Texas, and Brenda Smalts and husband David of Hereford, Texas; three grandchildren, Justin Carroll (Brianna), Ashley Rodriguez (Frank), and Taylor Carroll (fiancé Davis); and three great granddaughters, Miriam and Haylee Rodriguez and Lillie Carroll.
