Dean Herring, 95, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church in Hereford, with Pastor Jacob Larra officiating. There will be a private family burial at Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Hereford, under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Dean was born on January 21, 1927, in Amherst, Texas, to Odell and Altye (Jones) Herring. He served in the United States Air Force from 1944 to 1946. Dean married Mary (Hanks) Herring on February 20, 1949, at the First Baptist Church in Amherst, Texas, and they moved to Hereford in 1950. Dean worked as an Implement Dealer for H & W Implement until retirement. He was a member of the Hereford First Baptist Church, where he faithfully served and held the title of deacon emeritus. Dean was an active member of the Hereford Kiwanis club, held several leadership positions within Kiwanis International, and supported the Ronald McDonald House. Dean enjoyed golfing and was a loyal Hereford Whiteface fan.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mary Herring of Hereford, Texas; his children, Greg Herring of Bushland, Texas, Cliff Herring and his wife Teresa of Ruidoso, New Mexico, Marc Herring and his wife Eileen of Epsom, New Hampshire, Monica Stauffer and her husband Chris of Safford, Arizona, Kent Herring and his wife Christine of Austin, Texas, and Reid Herring and his wife Starla of Nixa, Missouri; seventeen grandchildren, and twenty- five great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Patricia Herring, great-grandson Kent Mullert, brother DC Herring, and sister Avis White.
