David Mondragon, 69, a lifelong resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 10:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Ramon Molina officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. The viewing will be on Thursday, May 11, 2023, from 2:00 PM- 8:00 PM and rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

David was born in Clovis, New Mexico, to Gregorio and Maria (Arguello) Mondragon on November 14, 1953. He was a plant supervisor for IBP for many years, then later became a supervisor for Westgate Car Wash. He soon realized that one of his loves in life was hard work and building almost everything and soon became a self-employed contractor. He would tell his daughter, "Somebodies trash is my treasure", and would refurbish and bring old furniture back to life again. David enjoyed watching old cowboy movies, dancing, joking, and making everyone laugh. He truly had a heart of gold; he loved his children and grandchildren dearly and would check in with his friends at the nursing home and make sure their needs were being taken care of. His daughters talk about how vain he was, about his hair being just right and what a neat and tidy person he was. David's presence, unique laugh, and his favorite saying "Ijuesu" will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish his memories are his children, David Mondragon, Angela Rocha and her husband Rudy and Daniel Luz Mondragon all of Hereford, Texas, and Whitney Villarreal and her husband Roger of Mesa, Arizona; his siblings, Viola Rasha of Amarillo, Texas, and Leonard Mondragon and his wife Isabel of Garden City, Kansas; the mother of his daughter Whitney Villarreal, Patty Cordova of Amarillo, Texas; 8 grandchildren, Matthew Mondragon, Emilee Mondragon, Ariel Rocha Pesina, Josiah Hernandez, Shane Rocha, Sierra Chapa, Savannah Chapa and Ryan Chapa; 5 great grandchildren, Ethan Subealdea, Larry Pesina III, Sebastian Pesina, Legend Johnson, and Kingston Johnson.

David is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Lucy Villa, Mary Wood, and Evelyn Moya, 2 brothers, Tony and Ishmael Mondragon and the mother of his children, Mary Helen Reyna.
