David Lenn Fitzgerald, 67, of Hereford, Texas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

A Family and Friend Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Celebration of Life Service honoring David will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, with friend Wayne Pierson officiating. Burial to follow at 3:00 PM, at West Park Cemetery in Hereford under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.

David was born on January 4, 1958, in Clovis, New Mexico, to Leonard and Roberta (Madding) Fitzgerald. He attended school and graduated from Tucumcari High School in 1976, and married his high school sweetheart and friend, Linda (Richardson), on February 27, 1976. David continued his education at Texas State Technical College, earning his Welding and Fabrication Certificate, and worked for Holly Sugar from 1984 to 1997. He furthered his education in 2002 at Amarillo College, receiving his Heating, Air, and Refrigeration Certificate and working in this industry until retirement in 2017.

David was a man of many hobbies who loved building and tinkering with things using all types of materials. He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, fishing, reading, puzzles, making jewelry, and building model tanks to name a few. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and liked watching football. He loved spending time with Linda, traveling to new places, time spent at Ute lake, camping, fishing, and boating with his girls, and working with them on projects or home improvements, including weed management and tree planting. He also loved spending time with his 7 grandchildren, teaching them how to fish, play poker, and going to get ice cream. David had a quick, sarcastic, fun wit. He was quiet, kind, and compassionate, always looking for a good adventure and ways to show his family how much they were loved.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Linda Fitzgerald of Hereford, Texas; daughters, Becky Barnett and her husband Jason of Macon, Missouri and Bethany Utzman and her husband Josh of Amarillo, Texas; grandchildren, Clayton, Corbin, and Caylie Barnett and Cora, Chloe, Calista, and Conrad Utzman; sister Sue Potter and her husband Terry of Clovis, New Mexico; mother-in-law Darlene Richardson, brother-in-law Steve Richardson and his wife Vicki of Gilbert, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Roberta Fitzgerald and sister Judy Tolden.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to a charity of your choice honoring David.
