David Casarez, 67, lifelong resident of Hereford, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Hereford surrounded by his loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, at 2:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford with Father Shane Wieck as celebrant. Burial to follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Hereford under the direction of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home A Family and Friend visitation will be on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home with the Rosary/Vigil service starting at 6:00 PM.

David, son of Ciro and Estella (Alejandro) Casarez, was born in Harlingen, Texas on April 23, 1958. He graduated from Hereford High School. David met Jesusa (Diaz), in Hereford, whom he married; together, they enjoyed 49 blessed years of marriage.

David began his career as a migrant laborer in the fields, later taking jobs as a truck driver and at Holly Sugar. In 1989, he founded Casarez Construction, managing a range of jobs including repairs, welding, roofing, remodeling, and general construction until he retired in 2010.

David cherished dancing with his wife, Jesusa, whether they were at home, in the park, or attending dances. Together they also liked to cruise around town in their car. David took great pleasure in watching classic westerns, playing cards—especially Texas hold'em—playing bingo, and trying his luck at casino slot machines. He loved cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Known for the best smoked brisket, David cherished and loved family gatherings, always wanting everyone together. His unique sense of humor, generous spirit in helping others (often bringing them food), compassionate nature, and his heart of gold will be remembered and missed.

Those left to carry on his legacy are his wife Jesusa Casarez of Hereford, TX; children, Rojelio Casarez and his wife Victoria of Amarillo, TX, Amanda Rodriguez and her husband Jesse of Hereford, TX, David Casarez and his wife Yvonne of Canyon, Texas, Priscilla Martinez and her husband Jose of Amarillo, TX, and Acacia Villalobos and her husband (Brian) of Amarillo, TX; 14 grandchildren, Jezebel Waddell (Joshua), Maximus Martinez (Yulisa Garcia), Hailey Casarez, Caterina Casarez, Ashton Martinez, David Ryan Casarez, Gaby Martinez, Matthew Martinez, Emily Martinez, Aaron Casarez, Abrielle Rodriguez, Elijah Rodriguez, Lorena Rodriguez, and Isaiah Rodriguez; 3 great grandchildren, Leilani and Micah Villalobos and Adalynn Wadell; two more great grandbabies on the way Grayson Waddel and Nayeli Villalobos; siblings, Ciro Casarez, Mike Casarez, and Sylvia Cardenas (Juan) all of Hereford, Texas and Leticia Alejandro of El Paso, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ciro and Estella Casarez; 3 sisters, Minerva DeLeon (Beto), Elva Castillo (Jesse), Olga Tijerina (Joe); brother Lupe Casarez; and 2 sisters-in law, Esperanza Casarez and Julie Casarez.
