Darlene Carter, 77, a lifelong resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in Hereford, Texas. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church with John Stagner officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will begin from 3:00-8:00 PM, on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the funeral home, the Carter family will be receiving any friends or family at 401 Westhaven Drive, Hereford, Texas, during these times.

Darlene was born March 15, 1944, in Cheyenne, OK., to Woodrow and Gladys (Davis) Sims. Darlene has been a resident of Hereford, Texas since 1962. She attended schools in Cheyenne and Sayre, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life, Roy Lawson Carter on September 9, 1962, in Sayre, Oklahoma. Darlene took much pride in raising her children and caring for her husband. Darlene enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and she loved going to the lake to fish and water ski. Her children and grandchildren say, "she was the best cook ever." Darlene enjoyed many things in her lifetime, but her greatest joy and love were her grandchildren and family. She and her husband attended every activity their grandchildren and great grandchildren participated in; they were her entire world.

Darlene is survived by her husband Roy Carter of Hereford, Texas; her children Chris Carter and his wife Erika of Possum Kingdom, Texas, and Charlotte Collier and her husband Mark of Hereford, Texas; 5 grandchildren Corey Collier and his wife Disney of Amarillo, Texas, Quin Carter and his wife Meredith of Aubrey, Texas, Jordy Collier and his wife Bailee of Hereford, Texas, Bryson Carter of Oklahoma City, OK., and Haylee Demel and her husband Losson of Hereford, Texas; 9 great grandchildren Boaz, Issac and Samson Collier, Hudson, Harlow and Adler Collier, Everley and Raelyn Demel and Bethany Carter.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents Woodrow and Gladys (Davis) Sims, and her siblings Ann Macklin, Bobby Sims, Jimmy Sims, Rhonda Lowell and Ronald Sims.
