Daniel Esquivel, 49, of Hereford, Texas, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023, in Amarillo, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will be on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Fellowship Church in Amarillo, Texas in the Student Ministry Center. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.

Daniel was born on May 9, 1973, in Hereford, Texas, to Santiago and Martha Esquivel. Daniel graduated from Hereford High School in 1991. He went on to earn a Bachelor's and Master's degree from West Texas A&M University. It was at WTAMU that he met his wife, Karen Horton, who was the love of his life. They were married June 5, 1999. They went on to have two beautiful daughters Kara and Kalyssa. Daniel loved being a dad of girls. He raised them to love adventure and everything outdoors. He loved mountain biking, hiking, and camping. He loved spending time with his family, watching his girls do their activities, traveling, and trying different cuisine.

Daniel began his career in health care working for Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital, Texas Tech University Health Science Center, and Carillon Retirement Center. Then 17 years ago, he had an opportunity to move back to his hometown and work for Amarillo College and their new branch campus. Daniel served on the Deaf Smith County Hospital Board, Leadership Hereford Board, CASA Board, Deaf Smith County Historical Society, Deaf Smith County Chamber of Commerce, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Hereford ISD Educational Foundation. He volunteered with the Hereford Senior Citizens and was a member of the Lions Club and Toast Masters. Helping students and the community became his passion.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Esquivel, and two daughters, Kara and Kalyssa Esquivel, of Hereford, Texas. His mother, Martha Esquivel of Houston, Texas, His brother, David Esquivel, and wife Brandilyn of Houston, Texas. His brother Damian Esquivel and wife Josie of San Antonio, Texas. His nieces Nadia and Sophia Esquivel and his nephew Joaquin Esquivel all of Houston, Texas. His mother-in-law and father-in-law, Terry and Vicki Moore of Amarillo, Texas. His brother-in-law, Keith Horton of Westcliffe, Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his father, Santiago Esquivel.
