Cruz Lara Ramirez, 88, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022, in Hereford, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 2:00 PM with Celebrant Grant Spinhirne officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, from 2:00-8:00 PM with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Cruz was born on April 20, 1934, in Midland, Texas, to Mercede and Cruz (Lara) Ramirez. He married the love of his life Isabel (Munoz) Ramirez in 1954, in Midland, Texas. Cruz worked for Dickie's, the Caison House and Big Daddy's as a cook and was known for having the "Best Hamburger" and being the "Best Cook" in the Deaf Smith County. Cruz later worked for West Texas Rural Telephone Company, for 35 years retiring in 1994. He loved watching his son's play baseball, football and performing in the band, and later following all his grandchildren in their activities. Cruz was an avid Dallas Cowboy, Texas Ranger, and Texas Tech fan. He enjoyed grilling for his family and family gatherings. Cruz was an active member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a 4 ^th Degree Knights of Columbus.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Isabel "Chavela" Ramirez of Hereford, Texas; his children Mary Ann Ramirez of Aurora, Colorado, Lori Ann Samaniego and her husband David of San Antonio, Texas, Sammy Ramirez of Odessa, Texas, Johnny Ramirez and his wife Dee of Hereford, Texas, Jimmy Ramirez and his wife Kelly of Saint Joe, Missouri, Jerry Ramirez, Gilbert Ramirez and his wife JoAnn, and Tommy Ramirez all of Amarillo, Texas; one sister Senida Avila of Midland, Texas; 28 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Cruz is preceded in death by his parents, two sons David Munoz and Cruz Ramirez, Jr. a brother Isidro Ramirez, three sisters Lovia Moralez, Martha Baeza and Christina Gamboa.
