Esabel Christina "Chavela" Cantú, 55, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023, in Amarillo surrounded by her loving family.

Chavela was born on May 16, 1968, in Hereford, Texas to Ernesto and Gabriela (Garcia) Cantú. She was a lifelong resident of Hereford and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Chavela worked many years as a substitute teacher for Hereford Independent School District. She was outgoing, funny, forward, caring, loving, and had a contagious smile. Chavela enjoyed cooking for her family and loved music and dancing. She loved her family and grandchildren dearly and always said "I love you."

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Lucia Cantú and her husband Jorge of Hereford, Texas, Alfredo Cantú Hernandez of Hereford, Texas, Francisca Rivera Perez and her husband Athan of Hereford, Texas, Martin Rivera Jr. and his wife Rocio of Clovis, New Mexico, and Guadalupe Lira and her husband Gonzalo of Hereford, Texas; a special niece Jaci Guerrero of Hereford, Texas; grandchildren, Sebastian Nunez, Dorian San Martin, Jose San Martin, Rozitseyla Hernandez, Nayari Perez, Ilaria Lira, and Khaleesi Lira; five sisters, Marta Zamora and her husband Florencio, Magdalena Guerrero and her husband Jesse, Rosario Nava, Linda Palacios, and Gabriela Avina and her husband Romulo all of Hereford, Texas; and one brother, Ernesto Cantu and his wife Elia of Hereford, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a son Donnie Earl Robinson, Jr., and two brothers, Victor and Raymond Cantú; her maternal grandmother, Francisca Corpus Ruiz.

Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas.
