Carmen Hernandez, 60, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church with Reverend Nicholas Gerber as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Hereford under the personal direction and care of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.

Viewing and visitation will be on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 3:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home with the Rosary and Vigil service beginning at 6:00 PM

He was born on April 25, 1965, in Mathis, Texas to Policarpio and Olivia (Castro) Hernandez.  Carmen was proud of his work as a mechanic and enjoyed his job. He was also a jack of all trades. He loved listening to music, dancing and playing his accordion. Above all Carmen cherished time spent with his family and especially playing with his grandchildren. Carmen was kind and generous, he never hesitated to help anyone out, not even a stranger. He will be missed by all his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Kathy Lucio of Hereford, Texas; children, Carmen Hernandez, Jr., Maricella Hernandez, Andrew Hernandez and his wife Sami Jo all of Amarillo, Texas, Ruben Zapata of Lubbock, Texas, Moses Hernandez and his wife Mercedes, Alyssa Hernandez, Ruben Hernandez, Raul Lucio, Jessie Lucio, Noel Hernandez, and Ramiro Hernandez all of Hereford, Texas; his little sidekick/grandson Kaleb Rene Hernandez of Hereford; eighteen grandchildren; siblings, Amador Hernandez and his wife Esther, Emma Sanchez and her husband Jose, Delfina Barrientez, Hortencia Lopez, Sylvia Monzon and her husband Sergio, Policarpio Hernandez Jr. and his wife Mona, Jose Angel Hernandez, Robert Hernandez, Olivia Rincon and her husband Jerry, and Julian Hernandez all of Hereford, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Also leaving behind brothers-in-law Paul Guerra his wife Erica and their 6 children, Chris Guerra and his wife Toni and their 4 children, Robert Guerra, and Raul Guerra and his wife Angie and their 3 children.

He is preceded in death by his parents Policarpio and Olivia Hernandez, brothers David, Juan, Francisco, and Angel Hernandez, brothers-in-law Enemencio Barrientez and Jose Guadalupe Lopez, nephew Jose Lopez, Jr., father and mother-in-law Jose and Maria Guerra and mother-in-law Teresa Guerra.
