Maria Del Carmen Fuentes, 76, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022, in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, at 2:00 P.M. at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Ramon Molina officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A viewing will be on Monday, November 28, 2022, from 3:00 -8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, with the Rosary beginning at 6:30 P.M.

Carmen was born on October 3, 1946, to Thomas and Felipa (Salinas) Veloz in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. She married Juan Antonio Fuentes Sr. on October 28, 1961; they moved from Toppenish Washington State to Hereford, Texas, which became their longtime home. Carmen was a member of the San Jose Catholic Church. She loved her family and was a good wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed watching her Telenovelas, going to the casino, listening to mariachi music, and her 44 oz. Dr. Pepper. She loved family gatherings and time spent visiting or going out with family and friends. She was a strong woman, and she loved her grandchildren, and they loved her.

Those left to cherish her memories are her four children, Juan Antonio Fuentes Jr. and his wife Gloria of Amarillo, Texas, Veronica Cordova and her husband Emilio Sr. of Amarillo, Texas, Ramon Fuentes Sr. and his wife Delia of Amarillo, Texas, and Jose A. Fuentes and his wife Priscilla of Tahoka, Texas; nineteen grandchildren, fifty-nine great-grandchildren, seven sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Juan Antonio Fuentes, Sr.; her daughter Patricia Lopez; grandchildren, Addison Fuentes, Tabitha Fuentes, and Scott Fuentes; two brothers and one sister.
