Carl Lee Alford, 92, a longtime Hereford, Texas, resident passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at his home in Hereford. A Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at the First Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with Dr. Nathan Adams, Joe Watkins and Jake Hooker officiating. Arrangements and cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Family and friend visitation will be on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, from 5:00-8:00 PM at the home of Carl and Johnnie Alford.

Carl was born September 13, 1931, in Dalhart, Texas, to William Sion and Gertrude (Garrison) Alford. Carl met and fell in love with the love of his life, Johnnie Barnett, and they were married on July 31, 1964, in Lubbock, Texas, and together they built a beautiful life and family. He and Johnnie have been residents of Hereford, Texas, since 1970. Carl started as a young teenager working in a sheet metal shop, and later designed and perfected the Big 12 Grain Cart. He loved all aspects of welding and the millwright's business. In 1978, he became the owner and operator of "Circle A Millwrights" and "Circle A Roping", where he made many lifelong friends. Carl was an active volunteer for Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Spicer Gripp, where he was the first recipient to receive the Top Hand Award. Carl was a good friend to everyone who knew him, he was a hard worker and loved working from sunup to sundown. His presence, smile and laughter will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Johnnie Alford of Hereford, his children, Vicki Wilson of Canyon, Early Alford and his wife Millie, Carla Purcella and her husband Steve and Darla Bryant and her husband Guy all of Hereford, Texas; 9 grandchildren, Johna Myers, Pecos Alford and his wife Justine, Kip Kendrick, Rodey Wilson and his wife Brooke, Amanda Garcia and her husband Jordan, Aryn Dickerson and her husband Grant, Kayli Tisdale and her husband Zane, Allee Purcella and Tell Bryant; 11 great grandchildren, Rylee and Rio Wilson, Cooper Myers, Lilly and Asher Tisdale, Sterling, Steele, and Stranton Garcia, Brazos and Sonora Alford and Ryan Dickerson; Carl's siblings, John Alford of Granbury, Texas, and Juanita Reed of Lubbock, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Carl is preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Marie Thompson, and Thelma Tapp.
