Calvin Lindbergh Goodin, 95, a longtime Hereford resident completed his journey here on this earth and is dancing and rejoicing in the presence of his Lord and Savior, on Thursday, January 4, 2024, in Hereford, Texas. A private family graveside will be on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM at West Park Cemetery with Dr. Nathan Adams officiating. Memorial services will follow at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Calvin Lindbergh Goodin was born on February 4, 1928, to James Jewel and Florence Brown Goodin in Maud, OK.  He graduated from Maud High School in 1945.  He came to Hereford in 1946 where he met and married the love of his life, Marian Longbottom in 1948.  He stated often that he married the prettiest girl in Hereford and felt that way forever.  He & Marian had 3 children, Gary Goodin (Mary), Ginger Wallace (Joe), & Brian Keith Goodin.  Six grandchildren then joined the family:  Cassie Goodin, Poppy Poth (Wes); Clay Wallace (Shannon); Jodi Jordan (Chris); Christi Henderson; and Cal Wallace (Aimee).  They in turn added 13 great grandchildren:  Cash & Walker Poth; Spencer Wallace (Kyra); Sailor Wallace; Angellica Parrish (Brandon); Abbi, Jinni & Kinedi Jordan; Mason, Madeline & Olivia Henderson; Callee & Gwenivere Wallace.  Great-great grandchildren Baylee Parrish and Baby Wallace in July 2024, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Calvin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 68 years, Marian, one son, Brian, granddaughter, Cassie, and sister, Betty Whitaker.

Special considerations for the people who cared for and worked with Calvin go out to Carolina and Billy Luna, Maggie Salinas, Robin Morris, Lynn Kriegshauser, the nurses & staff at Hereford Regional Medical Center, and Samaritan Hospice. Their personal and professional care throughout the years did not go unnoticed.

Words are not enough to express the feelings and gratitude for longtime Secretary Treasure and friend, Deborah Acker.  She has helped to run the business since 1978.  Calvin valued her devotion to him, along with her expertise. She along with many others keeps his family business successfully running even when Calvin was no longer able to do so. Everyone should be so fortunate and blessed.

Calvin will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and this community.  He was a true pioneer in spirit and deed.  He was a man of many trades and chose to sell fuel to farmers, truckers, and the community of Hereford as his career.  After all, selling fuel was his passion and he sold fuel for over 70 years.  Right here in Hereford, TX. In leu of flowers memorials can be made to First Baptist Church or First Baptist Kindergarten, 500 N. Main Street, Hereford, Texas, 79045, or to a favorite charity of your choice.
