Butch White, 80, of Hereford, Texas, passed away January 21, 2024. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on January 24, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Hereford, with Dr. Nathan Adams and Pastor Kyle Streun officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 6:00 -8:00 P.M. at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.

Butch was born on July 28, 1943, in Erick Oklahoma to Peck and Jimmye White. He grew up on a farm in Wellington, Texas and graduated from Wellington High School. He was recruited as a three sport athlete coming out of High School, but just couldn't stay away from Mary Beth for too long. After college, he proudly served as a Medic in the United States Army National Guard for four years.

Butch and Mary Beth started dating when Mary Beth was 13 years old and Butch was 16. They married on November 13, 1965, first living in Denver City, Texas where Butch owned a convenience store. They moved to Hereford in 1974, with their two girls, Markay and Stacy. Butch owned Boots and Saddle Western Wear for 29 years, where he loved creating relationships with his customers and vendors and could crease a hat like nobody else. Incapable of retiring, Butch worked for Steven's Chevrolet for a couple of years before finishing his career at MB McKee in 2022.

Butch loved people. He loved his wife, daughters and grandchildren fiercely. He loved his friends with all his heart. He and Mary Beth built friendships that were so close that they were considered family, children included. Throughout their life in Hereford, Butch would always comment that the best people lived in Hereford, Texas. Butch loved to have fun and was always happy. He loved to help anybody with anything at anytime and was available at all hours of the day and night to family, friends and perfect strangers who might have a need. He loved to dance with Mary Beth, play bridge, watch sports (and occasionally place a bet), cook outside, and be with people-adding instant joy just by walking into a room. Most of all, Butch loved Jesus with his whole heart and raised his girls to do the same.

Butch was Co-chair of the 1st All-Girls Rodeo, Recipient of the Bullchip award, Citizen of the Year, a member of the Sweat Hogs Sunday School class as First Baptist Church, taught Royal Ambassadors and Sunday School classes and served on numerous committees.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Mary Beth of Hereford, TX, his children, Markay Cosper (Ken) of Fort Collins, CO. Stacy Vogel (Rick) of Amarillo, TX. His grandchildren: Abbey, Jack, and Sam Cosper. Chandler Yearego (Dominic) and Bennett Vogel. As well as his Brother-in-law Walter, niece Kimi Spear (Kim Audeburn) and nephew, Kirk (Misty) Spear.

Honorary Pallbearers include Stevie Balderaz, Rex Baxter, Don Clements, Jack Cosper, Sam Cosper, Don Cumpton, Cody Hodges, Slade Hodges, Brad Smith, Sean Smith, Bennett Vogel and Dominic Yearego.

He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sondra Spear and so many treasured friends who Butch considered brothers in Christ.
