Billy Ray Thomas, 75, a longtime Hereford resident passed away on Monday, July 13, 2020 in Hereford, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will be Friday, July 17, 2020 at 2:00 PM at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Andy Scott officiating. Services and cremation have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will begin Thursday from 1:30PM-8:00PM.

Billy Ray was born August 14, 1944 in Littlefield, Texas to Roy and Aretha (Carter) Thomas. Billy Ray has been a resident of Hereford for approximately twenty years. He married the love of his life Shirley Brewer on April 4, 1965 in Dimmitt, Texas. Billy Ray has been a farmer all his life and he loved every aspect of the farming industry. His greatest love was his family and especially his grandchildren and those great grandchildren who were his sunshine; he enjoyed spending time with his best buddy, Andy Scott and loved his soda pop, Coke or Pepsi and his cigarettes. Billy Ray would go alone on road trips to see family and attend family reunions. He enjoyed watching football, playing football squares and he so loved farming and going to cattle auctions and Billy Ray was always there to lend a helping hand.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Shirley Thomas of Hereford, Texas; his children Danny Ray Thomas of Crockett, Texas, Lora Foster of Hereford, Texas, Deeroy Thomas of Austin, Texas, Stephanie Thomas and Brent Thomas both of Hereford, Texas; two brothers Connell David of Dallas, Texas and Roy Thomas and his wife Joyce of Dimmitt, Texas; five grandchildren Kojuana Foster, Ashley Struggs, Terry Thomas, Ayana Richardson and Jabari Reed; three great grandchildren Assyriá Greene, Zay-Lee Struggs and Xaydan Williams and several nieces and nephews.

Billy Ray is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Vivian Chavers, Phillis Brady and Ella McDonald.
