Bill Paetzold, 84, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 10:00AM in St. Anthony's Catholic Church with           as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery under the care of Mendez & Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at 6:00PM in the Mendez & Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel. Viewing will begin on Wednesday at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.

Bill Paetzold was born on January 10, 1935 in Hereford, Texas to John Paetzold and Helen (Korstjens) Paetzold. Bill was raised in Hereford and was a lifetime resident. Bill married Sonja Jean Culp on August 27, 1957 in St. Anthony's Church. He was a longtime farmer and a custom silage farmer; Bill also built boat docks with his son Chris at Lake Tanglewood for 20 years. After retiring in 2001, he had a passion for hydrogen solar panels and wind energy. He had a saying; "When my wells went dry, I did not cry, I started farming in the sky", which quickly earned him the name "Hydrogen Bill." Bill loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them at the cabin and taking his grandchildren for ice cream. In Bills younger days he had a great passion for race cars and spending family time at Lake Tanglewood.

Bill was a lifelong member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus and he will always be remembered as never meeting a stranger.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, a son Chris Paetzold and his wife Kay of Hereford and his daughter Debbie Stephens and her husband Chris of York, S.C.; six grandchildren Melissa Stephens and her husband Chad, Cory Paetzold and his wife Tabitha, Kristin Paetzold, Tyler Stephens and his wife Hannah, Karis Stephens and Ashton Stephens; six great grandchildren Kayla Stephens, Kaison Stephens, Kadence Stephens, Austin White, Aspen Coker and Avery Coker; three brothers Walter Paetzold, Sr. and his wife Teresa, Bobby Paetzold and his wife Nancy and James "Jim" Paetzold all of Hereford; two sisters Elenor Williams of Dallas and Alice Koenig of Hereford.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers Raymond, George and Edward "Bud" Paetzold.
