Betty "BeBe" Goodin Whitaker, 93, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, in Amarillo, Texas. Graveside services will be Friday, May 13, 2022, at 11:00 AM at West Park Cemetery with Pastor Billy Joe Wall officiating. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. There will be no viewing or visitation held at the funeral home.

Betty was born April 24, 1929, in Maud, Oklahoma, to James and Florence (Brown) Goodin. Betty graduated high school in Maud, Oklahoma in 1946, she then attended Hills Business College in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She later met and married the love of her life, Jimmy Doyle Whitaker on May 8, 1951, in Clovis, N.M. Betty's work career began with Dudley Green at the Ford house, then later she went to work for Henry Sears at First National Bank. Her last and longest place of employment was at Griffin and Brand, working as the office manager for Jack Griffin for over 50 years. Betty was never opposed to demanding work, she was also a long-time farm operator after her husband passed away, still keeping books on their farms up until her passing. She was very instrumental in instilling strong work ethic in all her children. She knew the ins and outs of successful farming. She was a caregiver for her mother and mother-in-law for many years; she loved cooking for family gatherings, especially casseroles and pies. Although she took few vacations, she enjoyed traveling to Conchas Dam on summer weekends and was always incredibly involved in her children and grandchildren's lives and endeavors, ready and willing to offer advice. Betty was a very bold and strong-willed woman who took pride in her role as the matriarch of her family.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children Greg Whitaker and his fiancé Shirlee Wiebe of Hereford, Texas, Dr. Steve Whitaker and his wife Dr. Kathy Whitaker of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Sheri Jorde and her husband Jeff of Farwell, Texas; her brother Calvin Goodin of Hereford, Texas; six grandchildren Reid Whitaker of Houston, Texas, Blair Henn and her husband Steven of Aledo, Texas, Bo Whitaker and his wife Molly of Maui, Hawaii, Dustin Whitaker and his wife Mandi of Amarillo, Texas, Buddy Jorde and his wife Chelsey of Clovis, NM. and Jessica Jorde of Ft. Worth, Texas; six great grandchildren Tristan Henn, Logan Henn, Hogan Hopkins, and Ella Hopkins all of Aledo, Texas, Madilyn Priest, and Ellis James Whitaker both of Amarillo, Texas.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jimmy Doyle Whitaker.
