Bette Gayle Underwood, 78, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020 in Hereford surrounded by her family. Cremation services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas with Memorial services to be held at a later date in Wellington, Texas.

Bette was born August 23, 1942 to Theodore Roosevelt and Vernell (Callahan) Trulove in Memphis, Texas. Bette married David A Roach in 1960 and they had three children, Elizabeth Solis, Brenda Blacksher, and Robley Roach; they were married for 18 years. She received her High School Diploma in 1975 while overseas with her husband in Germany.  In 1988, Bette received her college degree at Amarillo College as a Licensed Vocational Nurse and worked at Northwest Texas Hospital, Golden Plains, and Hereford Care Center.  She married Ken Underwood in 1996.

Bette enjoyed sewing, painting, and drawing for her family and making handmade Christmas gifts. Her passion as a nurse was to care for the babies at Northwest Texas Hospital in the Neonatal unit and teaching CNA classes in Hereford. She loved to talk on the phone and would make you feel as if you were number one; she was never shy about stating the facts. Bette loved to help people and never met a stranger.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughters Elizabeth Solis and Brenda Blacksher and her husband Billy both from Hereford, TX; son Robley D. Roach and his wife Shawn of San Angelo, Texas; five grandchildren: Clayton Blacksher and his wife Aide of Dumas, TX, April Blacksher and her husband Marcus Escamilla of Hereford, Texas, Christopher Solis of Whitesands, NM, Colby Roach of San Angelo, TX, and Halea Roach of San Angelo, TX;  six great grandchildren; sister Sherry Cromartie of Childress, TX; brother Jim Trulove of Humble, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Ken, and sister Teddie Allen.
