Berta Jimenez, 81, of Hereford, Texas,, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, in her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Celebrant Grant Spinhirne officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, from 3:00-8:00 PM and rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Berta was born on July 12, 1944, in Mercedes, Texas, to Leoncio and Orelia (Rodriguez) Campos. Over the course of her 81 years, she lived a life defined by strength, steadfast routines, and a quiet but unwavering love for her family and friends. Each day began with her cherished cup of coffee, a ritual she never missed. She enjoyed watching "The Equalizer" starring Queen Latifah, and had a special fondness for Betty Boop. Among her favorite snacks were Cheetos, and she loved to drink Starry. Berta's beloved shih tzu, Daisy, held a special place in her heart—not just as a pet, but as a true member of the family.

Though Berta might have appeared tough on the outside, those who knew her best understood she possessed a gentle, loyal heart. She loved her grandchildren deeply, always encouraging them to be truthful, to stand strong in their identity, and to pursue whatever dreams they had without fear. She wanted nothing more than for her grandchildren to live boldly and honestly.

Berta's work ethic was evident from a young age, as she began working at just 14, traveling with her family to Michigan for work. Later, she became a familiar face in the Hereford community, working in the cafeteria at Hereford Independent School District (HISD) at Tierra Blanca, and later as a manager at Stripes and Fast Stop. She retired in May of 2018, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and hard work.

Berta found joy in cooking, rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, and especially in spending time with her great grandchildren. She looked forward to attending yearly food shows, always bringing back snacks to share with loved ones. Her weekly hair appointments were a staple in her routine, a testament to her commitment to self-care.

She also loved being outdoors, tending to her yard whenever her health allowed. Berta's bold personality, fearless spirit, and gentle heart touched everyone who knew her. Her presence will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children; Edelia Ceballos (Joe), of Hereford, Texas, Fidel Ceballos of Amarillo, Texas, and Edelmiro Garcia, Jr., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Francisco, Kimberly, Vanessa, Matthew, Kalob and Joseph and fourteen great grandchildren; three sisters, Gloria Gannon of Weslaco, Texas, Elva De Leon of McAllen, Texas, and Edna Salazar of Georgetown, Texas; three brothers, Javier Campos, Sr. and Arnold Campos both of Merecedes, Texas, and Arturo Campos of Mission, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leoncio and Orelia Campos; three brothers, Odon Rudy and Leonel Campos; two sisters, Aida Garcia, Olivia Guerra and her beloved grandson, Jordan Ceballos, whom she loved a lot.
