Bernice Orel, 95, of Hereford, Texas passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 in Friona, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, December 11, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Celebrant Nicholas Gerber officiating, burial to follow at Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Hereford. Entrance to the church will be at the Bell Tower entrance. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be Thursday, December 10, 2020 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home with rosary at 6:00 PM. A face mask is required to attend the funeral service, viewing and rosary, provided by you; your safety and health matter to us.

Bernice was born August 20, 1925 in Kansas City, KS., to August and Josephine (Usaj) Toplikar. Bernice has been a resident of Hereford since 1985. Bernice was a homemaker most of her life, raising her children and taking care of her husband. Bernice was the best wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend; she was kind, loving and gracious. She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Bernice enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, fishing, bird watching, and loving on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was always happiest, with a sweet baby on her lap. She was also a constant visitor at the nursing home visiting her friends.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Tony Orel and his wife Debi of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ann Woodin and her husband Hugh of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Paul Orel of Mesa, Arizona, Carolyn Wilson and her husband Wayne of Longview, Texas, Trish Brown and her husband Sammy of Bootleg, Texas and Terry Vildibill and her husband Bob of San Diego, California; 15 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Bernice is joining her parents, her husband, Bernie Orel, a grandson, Justin Brown, four brothers, Joseph Toplicar, Frank, Edward, and Charlie Toplikar and five sisters, Rose Behm, Mary Bartkoski, Ann Felich, Elizabeth Franke and Angie Korona in heaven.
