Benselada H. Ureste, 76, of Hereford, Texas, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026, in Hereford, surrounded by her family.

Benselada was born September 28, 1949, in Harlingen, Texas, to Pedro and Guadalupe (Sauseda) Hernandez. A Hereford resident since 1968, she married Elpidio Ureste in Hereford in 1969.

Benselada was a proud homemaker. She enjoyed garage sales, sewing, cooking, gardening, tending to her chickens, watching Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes, collecting church memorabilia, and spending time with family.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Elpidio Ureste of Hereford, Texas; her sons, Elpidio Ureste, Jr. and his wife Rachel of Happy, Texas, Carlos Ureste and his wife Mary Jane of San Antonio, Texas, Jesse Ureste and his wife Angie of Hereford, Texas, And Alex Ureste and his wife Melissa of Bridgeport, Texas; her daughters Amada Ureste, Guadalupe Ureste and her partner Melissa Hernandez, and Marisela Taylor and her husband Logan all of Hereford, Texas; her fifteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren; and her sisters Elida Gonzales of Earth, Texas and Aurora Ureste and her husband Juan of Hereford, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Guadalupe Hernandez, brother Pedro Hernandez Jr., and her sisters Josefina Martinez and Wanda Hernandez Silerio.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 10:00 AM at San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford. Burial will immediately follow at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery in Hereford under the direction and care of Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home.

Visitation and Viewing will be on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 1:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home, with the Vigil and Rosary starting at 6:00 PM.
