Beckie Marie Fry, 65, of Hereford, Texas, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 10:30 AM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Celebrant Nick Gerber officiating. Burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. The Fry family will receive family and friends on Thursday, April 28, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 PM with rosary at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

Beckie was born April 22, 1957, in Bay City, Michigan, to Mary Jane and Robert P. Butch. The family moved to Dallas, Texas, where Beckie was raised as the oldest of six children. At the age of 8, due to illness, she had her right leg amputated and began wearing a prosthesis. Beckie never allowed her prosthetic to slow her down. She learned to ride a bike and even skied later in life. She attended East Texas State University and graduated with her degree in home economics in 1978. While attending East Texas, she met and married her husband, Stan Fry Jr. in 1977. After graduation Beckie taught high school while Stan attended dental school. In 1983, Beckie and Stan moved to Hereford with their 2 young daughters, where Stan opened his dental practice. Beckie continued her teaching career at St. Anthony Catholic School in Hereford until the birth of their third daughter. She began baking wedding and birthday cakes for the community. After her girls began school, she returned to teaching at St. Anthony for several years.

Beckie was multi-talented and enjoyed many hobbies. She was an accomplished quilter and won numerous awards for her quilting creations. She was featured artist in the Ogallala Quilt Festival, where her work was displayed for hundreds of visitors to enjoy. She loved to sew, cross-stitch, crochet, scrapbook, and bake. Most of her creative products were donated to St. Anthony School and Faith City Mission, as well as given as gifts to friends and family. Beckie loved being in Ruidoso and appreciated the mountain views while sewing, reading, and praying. She was a devoted lifelong Catholic and a faithful member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Beckie is survived by her husband, Stan of Hereford, her daughters, Emily Nielsen and husband Mack; Katherine Forquer and husband Brandon; Becca Sanchez and husband Jesse along with 7 grandchildren Braylon, Sydnee, and Claire Nielsen; Blaire and Bianca Forquer; Lukas and River Sanchez. She is also survived by siblings Bobby Butch, Patti LaPorte, Kellie Schank, Bryan Butch and Joe Butch as well as her beloved nieces and nephews.

Beckie is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jane Butch and father, Robert.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorials to be made in honor of Beckie to St. Anthony Catholic School.
