Barry Lynn Jones passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024, in Hereford, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Celebrant Grant Spinhirne officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Family and friend visitation will be on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Barry Lynn Jones was born in Clarendon Texas to Stella Gatewood Jones and Earle Dean Jones on November 18, 1937. As WWII had begun in Europe the young family, including older brother Stuart Carrol moved to Amarillo where Earle worked at Pantex. Unfortunately, Earle passed away when Lynn was almost 5 years old. Stella continued to teach, and Lynn started school in Amarillo.

Stella married Harold Wester in October 1943. Stella, Harold, Carrol, Lynn and Harold's five daughters moved to Hereford. Lynn met Elane Wagoner in junior high and he loved her from that moment and for the rest of his life. Lynn attended Hereford High School where he played football and graduated in 1957.

Lynn joined the army to "see the world". He made it all the way from Hereford to El Paso. He and Elane dated long distance until they married on August 20, 1960. Lynn worked for General Motors Finance Corporation and the young couple moved to Altus, OK.

Lynn and Elane started their family while living in Altus where Gary was born in 1962. They moved to Pueblo where Karen was born in 1964. Then moving to Monta Vista, Durango and back to Pueblo in 1971 where Robert was born. Lynn, Elane, Gary, Karen and Robert moved to Hereford in 1972.

Lynn took over his stepfather's concrete construction business and ran it successfully until 2012. He also operated Jones Storage for 30 years.

Lynn had many passions. First, Elane, he adored her and was passionate regarding his children their spouses and grandchildren. Second, fishing on the Cebolla Creek in Colorado. Third, he was an artist and painted in both oils and pastels. Fourth, he loved the Texas Rangers and golf. Fifth, he loved to travel throughout the western United States, Canada and Europe.

Lynn is survived by his brother Stuart and wife Cecila of Lubbock, son Gary and wife Susan of Oklahoma City, daughter Karen of Hereford and son Robert and wife Kristi of Hereford as well as grandchildren Ben, Sam and wife Maggie and Emma. Lynn passed away quietly on September 13, 2024, in his home.
