Barnell "Chief" Landers, 89 of Hereford, Texas passed away on Friday, December 24, 2021, in Amarillo, Texas. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Viewing will be on Monday, January 3, 2022, from 1:00-5:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Barnell was born on January 31, 1932, in Arthur City, Texas to Barney and Pearlie Bernice (Wilhite) Landers. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1960. Barnell married Addie Faye "Baby" Landers on November 15, 1959, in Memphis, Texas.  They shared 62 wonderful years together and Barnell was proud to tell everyone about it.  Barnell worked for Oglesby Equipment, Jerry's Exxon gas station, and until retirement at Top of Texas Trucking.  He enjoyed taking care of his yard, his pickup truck, and working around the house. Most of all he loved taking care of his wife, whom he cooked for after retirement. Barnell called Addie, "Beautiful" and "Baby" and she called Barnell, "Honey". Barnell read his scripture every morning and every night, and he and "Baby" would pray together. They put God first and loved each other dearly. Barnell also loved to have fun, he was very funny, and there wasn't a day that he didn't come up with something fun and new for Addie.

Those left to cherish his memory are wife Addie Faye "Baby" Landers of Hereford, Texas; special nieces, Dorothy Bailey Davis of Idabell, Oklahoma, Irene Fields of Ogden, Arkansas, and Alice Faye Starks of Ogden, Arkansas and their families; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and extended family, Matt and Kathleen Collier of Hereford, Texas and their children Kayla and Kellie, Robby and Amy Collier of Hereford, Texas and their daughter MaKenna, and Beth and Ray Barron of Georgetown, Texas and their family.

Barnell is preceded in death by his parents Barney and Pearlie Landers; three sisters, Pearlie Johnson, Mary Hubbard, and Lorene Wright; and four brothers, Joe Wilhite, Jimmie Bradford, Mitchell Landers, and Lonnie Landers.
