Barbara Jean Emanuel Hughes, aged 51, passed away on April 1, 2024, in the hospital from cancer. Her family is deeply saddened by the unexpected and untimely death. She was only 51 years old.

Barbara is survived by her husband, son, sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her father and mother as well as 'adopted' mother and father.

Barbara was born in Elmira, New York and spent her early years there with her cousins. She moved to Abilene, Texas when she was in elementary school and attended Valley View and later Abilene High.

Barbara had her son Jaykob Emanuel and raised him in Abilene, Texas. She met her husband Landon, and they married on January 3, 2017.

Barbara was a loving soul and she and Landon were building a life together. She loved spending time with her husband and family, playing games, playing with her dogs, and enjoying life.

A celebration of life will be held at a date to be decided. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Landon Hughes and family.
