Bacilio G. Rodriguez, 89, longtime resident of Hereford, Texas passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 24, 2020 at San Jose Catholic Church at 10:00 AM with Celebrant Nestor Lara, burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Due to the COVID-19 virus everyone attending the funeral service will need to wear a mask provided by you and there will be no public restrooms available per the church. Viewing will begin on Sunday, August 23, 2020 from 1:00 PM-8:00 PM and rosary will be at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Due to the COVID-19 virus only 50 people will be allowed in the funeral home at any one given time. Your health and safety matter to us.

Bacilio was born April 15, 1931 in Melvin, Texas to Francisco B. and Paula (Gonzalez) Rodriguez. As a child Bacilio loved spending his time in the "monte" (woods), where he would spend his time hunting, fishing, and exploring. As a young adult he worked as a laborer, this is how he met the love of his life, Josefina Silva. They were married July 14, 1961. Together they had four children. Bacilio loved serving his Lord in several different ministries. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and was a cursillista. He especially loved playing his guitar for his Lord and Savior. Bacilio made many great and wonderful brothers and sisters in Christ along the way. He was dearly loved by his family, where he is and will always be thought of to be a great mountain of a man; the best father, husband, grandfather, and a true example anyone could ask for. Bacilio was the pillar of his family that introduced them all to the Lord. His family feels blessed to have been able to call him "dad", "husband" and "grandfather". Bacilio was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, he enjoyed gardening, especially cucumbers and cantaloupe, he enjoyed the outdoors. He loved reading his bible, watching old fashion western movies, building birdhouses, and doing amazing carpentry work, he was an incredibly talented man. Bacilio was always great with numbers and was a true mathematician.  Bacilio taught all his children how to play the guitar.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of 59 years Josefina Silva Rodriguez of Hereford; four children Adrina (Audrey) Hernandez, Bacilio Rodriguez, Jr. and his fiancé Aida Lemus, Angie Villalovos and her husband Antonio and Frank Rodriguez and his wife Maria Leticia all of Hereford; a sister Francis Parmer and her husband T.C. of Weslaco, Texas and a brother Silverio Rodriguez of Hereford; 31 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Bacilio will join his parents, two brothers Jose and Ernesto Rodriguez, one sister Viviana Perez and her husband David, one great granddaughter Anahi Hernandez, two nephews and five nieces.
