Asencion "Chon" Perez, 59, of Hereford, Texas passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2021, in Albuquerque, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 17, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. at San Jose Catholic Church with Celebrant Ramon Molina officiating. Burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 1:00 – 8:00 P.M. with rosary being recited at 6:00 P.M. Masks are encouraged if attending visitation, rosary or mass.

Asencion was born on December 16, 1961 in Zacatecas, Mexico to Jose and Lucina (Barrientos) Perez. He married Adela (Escobal) Perez in March of 1986. Asencion was a long-time resident of Hereford, working for Cactus Feeders as a pen rider for the last eighteen years.  Asencion loved being a Cowboy, enjoying rodeos and horseback riding. He loved to have a good drink which consisted of Budweiser or hard liquor and cooking out with his family. Asencion was one of the best cooks in town per his family, some of his specialties being chilis con queso, tripas, and hamburgers. His favorite music to listen was Bandas and Corridos.  Asension was the family handy man and would help his family in any way needed.  He was hardworking, loving, and a proud husband, father, and grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Adela Perez; sons, Jose Angel Perez and wife Noemi, Luis Perez and wife Paris, Emmanuel Perez and wife Cruzita Montes; grandchildren, Jayden Angel Jr. Perez, Alizae Angela Marie Perez, Noah Barajas, Noelle Zoiee Perez, Adelylah Zarenity Perez, Zachariah Miguel Perez, and Alayna Saryia Perez all of Hereford, Texas; dad Jose Perez of Mexico; brothers, Francisco Perez, Maracio Perez, and Timothy Perez of Oklahoma and Tacho Perez of Mexico; sisters, Margarita Alvarado, Julia Romero, Maria Jaramillo, and Romana Torres all of Oklahoma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Asencion is preceded in death by his mother Lucina Perez.
