Arturo Nava, 67, of Hereford, Texas passed away Thursday, March 5, 2020 in Hereford. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 1:00 PM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Celebrant Tony Neusch, burial to follow at West Park Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. Rosary and vigil will be Friday, March 6, 2020 at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
Arturo was born April 19, 1952 in Uriangato, Guanajuato, Mexico to Romulo and Elvira (Villagomez) Nava. Arturo has been a resident of Hereford since 1972. He married Rosario Cantu on October 12, 1974 in Hereford. Arturo worked for Keeling Cattle for 17 years. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Arturo never met a stranger, every Wednesday he would deliver donuts to his family and friends and every day after work he would stop at Allsups and get he and his wife a coke. Arturo enjoyed hunting peasant, fishing, gardening his tomatoes, chilis, zucchinis and cucumbers; he enjoyed watching baseball, in his younger days he played on a baseball team. Arturo liked going to the ranch and feeding the farm animals and setting on his front porch cleaning nopales. He was well known for his famous Caldo de Res. Arturo's greatest joy was having family and friend cookouts.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Rosario Nava of Hereford, and his children Veronica Nava and her husband Luis Rodriguez of Lubbock, Arturo Nava, Jr. and his wife Judy of Amarillo, Yvette Alaniz and her husband Richard and Regina Altman and her husband Trent all of Hereford; 12 brothers and sisters Alicia Carmona and her husband Prajedes of Mexico, Eva Nava, Guillermo Nava and his wife Josie, Jose Luis Nava and his wife Maria, Rosa Rodriguez and her husband Augustine and Juan Nava and his wife Oralia all of Hereford, Raul Nava and his wife Irma and Antonio Nava and his wife Susanna all of Moses Lake, Washington, Ruben Nava of Carrizo Springs, Texas, Eloy Nava of New Braunfels and Javier Nava of Austin; 12 grandchildren Liset, JoseLuis, Ernesto, Jonis, Mariah, Jax, Azalea, Arissa, Aleeya, Richard, Zaybrie and Zayden.
Arturo is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Teresa Nava.
