Arnold "Arnie" Artho, lifelong resident of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in Amarillo, at the age of 74, surrounded by his loving family.

Arnold was born on September 6, 1951, in Canyon, Texas, to Elroy and Roberta (Irlbeck) Artho. He spent his formative years on the family farm in Wildorado and attended school in Hereford. In 1979, Arnold married Doris Turner at St. Anthony's Church in Hereford. He was a dedicated member of St. Anthony's Church and a past member of the Knights of Columbus.

Arnie worked in various agricultural jobs before dedicating 30 years to road maintenance for Deaf Smith County Precincts. Arnie loved spending time in his yard, tending to his garden, listening to country and gospel tunes, and watching classic western films. An accomplished woodworker, he found joy in crafting a variety of items from wood. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and being there Papa, Papa Bear.

Arnie was happy go lucky and friendly, he knew no stranger, enjoyed visiting, and lending a helping hand.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Doris Artho of Hereford, Texas; children, Jenny Artho of Hereford, Texas, Andrew Artho and his wife Susan of Hereford, Texas, and Monica Chavez and her husband Juan of Friona, Texas; five grandchildren, Joseph Daniel Artho, Rachel Artho and her fiancé Cayson Wilburn, Alex Artho, Izabella Chavez and Colton Chavez; siblings, Raymond Artho (Chris)of Vega, Texas, Janice Pope of Carlsbad, New Mexico, Eddie Artho (Virgina) of Wichita Falls, Sandra Walker of Hereford, Texas, Patricia Jesko (Dwight) of Hereford, Texas, Harold Artho (Karen) of Umbarger, Texas, Duane Artho (Valerie) of Hereford, Texas, and Wanda Jesko (Gerald) of Hereford, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and adopted children.

He is preceded in death by his parents Elroy and Roberta Artho and brother Danny Gene Artho.

Memorial Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 10:30 AM, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Grant Spinhirne officiating. Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford. A Rosary/Vigil Service will be on Monday, April 13, 2026, at 6:00 PM at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to an upcoming fundraiser to help offset medical costs.
